My weight loss journey!
From 66kgs to 55kgs

It all started with the realization that I am getting breathless, tired, my clothes needed an inch increase every time I went to the tailor taking my size M to L and then to XL.. Post second delivery, I returned back to work after my maternity leave and due to the constant pressure of work and home, I had very little time to devote to solely myself. Juggling between the responsibilities of being an ideal mother, wife, daughter in law and an ideal employee, I had very little scope to think productively for myself.
Eventually, I realized this must be the case of many of such mothers who wish to get back to their self and rejoice in the feeling of getting themselves fit into their old clothes. It was that spark of time when being a PHYSIOTHERAPIST, I took a vow to do something for our women. “Charity begins at home!” So, without wasting much of my time, I undertook few special courses on WOMEN’s HEALTH which laid the foundation of my dream project of developing “WOMEN’S HEALTH CLUB”.
There were too many hurdles which came in my path to establish this dream into reality. But, with constant support of my managerial team of Hospital, my co-physiotherapists, friends, family, well wishers and clients, I made it possible and still working on it. Even today there are hardships, but paving the way out has become my new motivation.
I started to undertake this new revolution for myself first. Indulging in a committed exercise and diet regime, I made sure I become an example for others. Weight loss is not a journey of a month or few but a cumulative effort to dedicate oneself to acquire it as a lifestyle. There will be peaks and valleys of joys and disappointments, there will be guilt of unhealthy snacking or missing days of workout , you might want to punish yourself to have shifted the weighing scale to 1 kg more than last time. Such disappointments would be nothing but a ploy for you to quit this journey.
With constant learning, exploring, understanding and research, I infer that victory is impossible if you do not set a goal in your mind and keep reminding yourself of your foreseen mission. This will help you to put in your best efforts and overcome negativity. Sustainability is the key! Watching the weighing scale everyday won’t do any justice but it’s your positive attitude which will work wonders.
- My tips for all those who are waiting to join me in this journey:
- 1. Make exercise a habit
- 2. Eat to reward your body for what it can do.
- 3. Celebrate the smallest achievement rather than watching the scale each day.
- 4. Take an extra effort to prepare that green tea, serve that protein in your plate, add one more glass of water in your schedule, etc.
- 5. Believe in your mentor for your weight loss journey. The less you crib, the more you grin! “Rome was not built in a day!” Keep glued to your goal.
- 6. It’s ok if it was a bad day and you didn’t work out or have taken care of your meals. Do not curse yourself.
- 7. Do things which you can take up as a lifestyle and not for momentary terms.
- 8. Seek help openly whenever you feel.
- 9. Googling too much isn’t worth.
- 10. Everything is possible. But make sure you set realistic goals for yourself!
