Let’s start the discussion on the said topic by the inspirational start-up from the sacred personalities of huddood fodola. They showcased the extraordinary level of entrepreneurship by their efforts. To begin with, I want to cite here the three similar names whose endurance and forbearance for the sake of Dawat will always be remembered.
Maulaya Raj bin Dawood (Soni)QR: This sage was martyred in Ahmedabad. He was famous for the manufacturing of soap and its trading. Apart from getting involved in the service of the dawat he was actively working hard to earn his living.
Maulaya Raj bin Maulaya Adam QR: He was one of the eminent entrepreneurs of his era He was named as ملك التجار sultan of traders. He is the father of Syedna Ismail Badruddin RA. Maulaya Raj use to send money to His revered son (Syedna Ismail Badruddin RA) and ask Him to look after the expenses of other students as well.
Maulaya Raj bin Dawood QR: (Morbi) owing to the torments from Jafar laeen, Maulaya Raj moved from Patan to Morbi. He was famous for weaving fabric. He was skilful in this field, and use to hone the skills for Mumeneen by teaching them this art.
The fascinating part of the names of the aforementioned personalities is all three have similar names. And, the name itself (Raj) denotes the meaning, of a person who is a sultan or an emperor. Apart from the similarities in name all are famous for their endurance for the sake of Dawat and in this context, we can also see that they were also eminent entrepreneurs and ran household industries as well. What else can we say in their reverence? We can just pray that may Allah grant us the courage to always seek sustenance by adopting the path which was chosen by them.
In the current era, when we talk about the industries the first thing that comes to our mind is the installation of giant machinery, workers having industrial tools in their hands, and working on the belt. Perhaps, we forgot to think about the industries which can be operated on the micro-level like home and small industries. We sometimes don’t consider food or agriculture industries in this league. Whereas they are also the biggies that generate an exponential amount of profits.
In this article, I want to discuss three case studies, in which one name is renowned and known and the other two are local but can infuse the sense of converting small trading organizations into a satisfactory level of the industry.
The first example is from the educational industry.
Everybody who is associated with the educational fraternity is aware of Khan Academy. Any teacher who searches anything related to the topic of mathematics or science will be displayed by the educational content created by this Academy. Though the founder faced criticism from the educational fraternity for not having proper knowledge in the subject’s pedagogy, the teachers and educators still used to give the reference of its videos to their students for understanding the subject matter properly. It was once assumed that this academy would make the need for attendance to campuses redundant. However, the academy itself concurs that this content is only the supplementary content for better understanding the concepts. The success of Khan Academy is cited here to realize that industry doesn’t mean employing 100 workers and installing mega machinery. The industry is the source of a product that can be used for the benefit of mankind whether it’s tangible or non-tangible. The online possibility has opened a spectrum of opportunities for whoever wants to expand his regime of trading. The purpose of discussing it here is that it is necessary for every aspirant to understand these possibilities and benefit from them in real-time.
My second example is from the medical industry.
When I was studying in al-Jamea, it was a norm that for further treatment of any acute or critical ailment we were prescribed to visit Surat general hospital. There was an orthopaedic doctor who voluntarily rendered his services and operated his small consultant private OPD. Within the course of two decades, I witnessed him, operating from a small place to a huge hospital that offers a variety of services related to orthopaedic ailments, along with specialized treatments for a few chronic diseases which are not attended by regular doctors. This is how a professional can work on his skills and visualize their expansion. For me, this type of expansion is not less than converting a small shop or micro trading into a giant industry.
My third example is from the tailoring industry.
I have seen a tailor expanding his tailoring from home to big sharks in this field. His shop was very small, even a middle height person couldn’t stand straight in his shop. But this was the launchpad for him. Now he has amplified everything related to tailoring. He is having ready-made suits for all religious occasions and festival seasons. The work profile of a tailor is to sew or stitch the clothes. But this firm offers a vivid variety of fabrics which are not available in the fabric shops.
The element which is common in all three examples is attaining the trust of the customer. In most industries, after the completion of any product, there is a dedicated team of examiners who check the quality of the product. And after observing the satisfactory level of desired quality the product is approved for sale. The main element to expand any organization is rendering loyal and honest service. It’s the tendency of human nature that it will always get attracted where it will receive the right value of anything.
In the end, we can realize that millennials are nowadays looking for new options for expanding their venture. The surprising part of this awareness and realization is that the number of start-ups in the current year is all-time high compared to any year. If people are looking to optimize their potential, then why should we remain indolent and get satisfied with our moderate and limited efforts. It’s time to do something extraordinary. I am not denying looking for the possibilities for starting the massive industries. However, if anybody is competent enough to start a massive venture, he should surely look for that. But, my aim is to just emphasize the improvement from where we are today to the next level tomorrow.
