Importance of adaptability in life.

Every technological advancement is sometimes considered a threat to the way things have always been done. However, not every change that challenges mankind’s abilities is a threat; it can also be an opportunity to adapt and progress.  

In our pursuit to make life easier, we are constantly discovering new advanced options to implement and leave behind traditional working operations.  

As far as we are concerned, who believes in the ideology of “embracing new advancement while holding the old one”.  We have a unique way of embracing change. If any new breakthrough is in alignment with the tenents of Islam, then it is an opportunity to embrace it and proceed further. If it is apparently against the tenents and ideologies of Islam, then paying attention to it is futile. Lastly, if it is ambiguous, waiting to adopt change until it is clear remains the best option. 

After this brief introduction, let’s discuss the recent breakthrough in the field of artificial intelligence. The new search engine (Chat GPT) is a step forward in providing quick, desired, and cultivated responses for any search with hassle-free results. People are divided into two categories when it comes to adopting this new breakthrough in the field of artificial intelligence. Those who see it as a threat are usually in the educational field and infer that this AI tool will destroy the critical and constructive thinking of students. Writing an essay or any academic writing seems to be just a click away from the fingertips of the students. Some universities have expressed their concern over this tool, and they have explicitly denied its usage for students. But when we look at it from the students’ end, this new tool can increase the students’ educational domain in multiple directions, and most importantly it can sum up the essence of several studies for them in a simpler and shorter way. For me, this is far from a dangerous thing for anyone availing of the benefit of this tool. 

Currently, the best advice to aspirants in any field is not to consider this tool a total replacement for all academic efforts. It is too early to comment on anything in this regard. Time itself will decide the course of action to embrace this tool.  

Until now, hard work has always proved to be irreplaceable, and work speaks louder when it is compared with indolence and idleness. As time advances, we will observe that this tool will be shaped in a more precise and effective way. If students are forcefully barred from utilizing this tool, it will lead to undesired consequences. Exploring it more and diving deep into the dynamics of this tool will help to adopt it in a constructive way and yield more benefits. 

To combat the current challenging situation from the faculty’s end we can implement a few practices in our operations. 

We can instruct the students that mistakes; regarding the formation of sentences, grammar, spelling, etc. henceforth will not be tolerated as a handy magical AI tool is available to them. These mistakes were earlier considered typo mistakes and were ignored. 
The faculty itself must study deeply the subjects, topics, and other contents related to the desired matter on chat GPT or other AI tools for its deeper and optimum understanding. 
Earlier when the spelling suggestion tool has established the necessity to learn spelling decreased. The students showed less heed and importance while learning the proper spelling of words. And to our surprise, the mistakes are observed fewer as they are auto-corrected. Nowadays, most academic writings are submitted via Word Files only, and hence, spelling errors are least seen. Likewise, this new AI tool will open a new and greater potential for the students to progress further, if, utilized in a proper way. 
In conclusion, I suggest that teachers can ask students to bring examples from ten books or bring the opinion and perception of ten profound personalities for the topics shortlisted by the teacher who is assigned to evaluate the essays. Alternatively, students can be asked to do research and then write essays in the class itself, which will eventually enhance the students’ thinking. 

The greater concern here popping in the minds is that this tool can stop the progress of the cognitive skills of the students which are true up to some extent. However, on the other hand, I believe that this tool can also increase the cognitive skills of the students. 
To conclude, we can say, whatever advancement AI tool has made till now and will make in the future, it is conclusively a machine that works on an algorithm designed by humans. It can’t eliminate the involvement of humans in its proper  functioning. Without keen monitoring from the human, its flaw and miscalculations can increase and may be at times devastating. The Students can’t just copy the responses received by this tool and jot them down in essays or academic writing. They have to read it carefully before finalizing it for their required purpose. Else, they will lend themselves in deep trouble. The research activity carried out by them will assist them to learn and study further. 
I would also say, this tool will help a learned person more compared to an ignorant. 
For example, if a doctor is willing to enhance his knowledge about medicines, this tool will help him. But a person who doesn’t have any basic knowledge about medicines can’t become a doctor just by utilizing this tool. 
Allah Taala’s creation is the live evidence we are witnessing every day. Allah Taala has by His divine wisdom magnificently created the universe. Which is, in one sense seems to be controlled by an autopilot system. Although, we know that it is controlled by a flawless structure and simultaneously monitored by robust machinery made by Him. The same phenomenon seems impossible to be witnessed in human working operations.  

As discussed earlier, whatever new advancement seems to be in alignment with the tenents of Islam should be embraced. Likewise, this advancement can be taken in the same sense. Rather than seeing it as a threat, we can see it as a new dimension in the advancement of mankind.
