Learn to grow
When we are talking about learning, we are talking about growing. The moment a human being is born, he starts to grow. At the initial stage, the growth looks fascinating. The parents are excited to observe the change in their infant (milestones) as the days and months pass. These minute changes in physical growth are the most intriguing part of a child’s growth. Then comes the stage of schooling of the child where his cognitive skills are cultured and cultivated. The physical and mental development of a child grows simultaneously at this stage.
Schooling of a child
The most interesting part of a child’s life is witnessed here. Till now the child, if a male who was prince for their parents and female who was a princess for them, is compared by the other child studying in the same class. Here the flaws of the child which were consciously or unconsciously ignored by the parents are clearly highlighted. Or, we can also say that if any exceptional talent a child is having is also popped out. If this talent meets with the real mentor and is properly harnessed and cultivated, the child reaches a lofty height along with rendering his exceptional services to mankind. Thus, the purpose of a child’s existence on earth seems a noble and pious existence.
Advanced learning stage
Here, there is a catch. At this stage of a student’s life, the physical growth of the child is totally overlooked and all the energy is focused upon completing the desired graduation for pursuing a coveted career. The fire inside the child ‘which was earlier free to go in any direction is tamed and allowed to move in the predefined direction; either it is in the favor of the child’s wish or against it. At times it has been observed that the child becomes the victim of their parent’s failure. Or his desires and wishes are crushed by them. On the contrary, a child coming from a prosperous family is unable to take the benefit of the leap which his parents have already given him to proceed further. The cause behind grabbing the benefit of their parent’s success is the indolent attitude because of the feeding done to him by a silver spoon.
Real opportunity seekers
Few students are in search of the opportunity in life; only a handful of them grab it at an earlier stage and few realize that they missed the opportunity and try to seek it at any stage.
I came across a few students in my life, pertaining to the same category in the current year. Initially, owing to their introvert nature, I wasn’t able to understand the potential they were having in their gut. The moment they realized what they are missing in their academic life, they immediately started to take the action. All were in my touch since they got the privilege of admission to Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah. The most fascinating fact about one of them is that he realized the problem in real time. After a discussion with him, he shared that, he himself figured out the major cause of his failure by his personal introspection. The reason cited by him is not a hidden secret. It’s common amongst all children and every second child is juggling with it. And the reason is non-other than “mobile addiction”. We all are aware of the adverse effect of this addiction. Moreover, all are facing its consequences; still, they lack the courage to stay away from it. The trap of this addiction is so powerful that even a most motivated person can’t resist himself.
So what was the trick which worked in this talib e ilm’s favor?
He wanted to test himself by avoiding keeping the mobile phone near him and concentrating on his work. Also, he tried turning off the data or Wi-Fi connection to keep the social media notification at bay. He simply chose to keep his phone at a considerable distance where he himself can’t reach easily. This is the best practice a student should adopt when he is preparing for exams. Someone can argue that looking at the current scenario of online studies when the subject matter is not very clear to us; we, try to Google and find the appropriate explanation. True! Internet is the best resource to find and search for anything in today’s world. But one can write all that is not clear on a paper and search for the answers together. And that too not on a mobile phone if one is willing to continue studying after research. A laptop is also a good option while studying to avoid the distraction of social media. For applauding this talib e ilm’s efforts I want to mention his name and photo here.
Also want to applaud the efforts of a few other students of my class for their sincerity and punctuality.
When we discuss, how to do preparations for exams, we start to discuss, proper sleep, healthy eating, and so on.
For me, sleeping and eating well is a honey trap. As soon as the fire of studying ignites the whims of sleep and eating well are all the suggestions that crop in. Why do we need more sleep? For studying, we extensively require only limited sleep. Why do we need more food? (Of course, I am not denying healthy food); we should comparatively eat less if we want to study for prolonged hours.
What’s the most beneficial time for studying?
Again this is a trap; each and every available time period is convincible for studying. Grab the opportunity whenever you can. Before we start studying we often watch a few YouTube videos for seeking expert opinions and guides about appropriate study time, method, or resources. The search results into an infinite number of tips and tricks related to the time that is explained with a different context. The commonest of them all says, “The best time for studying is early morning”. What happens to us is, when we watch the video in the evening, and the speaker explains that the best time to study is morning, because the mind is fresh and the voice pollution is low and bla bla bla, we think that let’s go to sleep and get charged up and wake up early the next morning and start learning. This is the trap because the next morning is usually the same. No trace of last night’s charging is observed, and the day passes as usual. Again in the night, we watch another video, we get fascinated again by the tricks, and no more change in the routine is seen. Just the vicious cycle continues.
To conclude, my suggestions are:
Don’t watch videos related or read too many irrelevant articles on how to prepare for exams. Just give your efforts day in and night with the caliber you already possess.
Ask your seniors who have performed remarkably well in their life for advice.
The most appropriate of all, ask your teachers; they will be the best help for you.
Good luck for exams
